What Is Online Therapy?

Online therapy, also known as teletherapy, refers to remote psychotherapy or counseling services. It is provided via an online platform or video call instead of in person.

Online ABA therapy is exactly that—virtual ABA therapy. You and your child will meet with a mental health professional using a computer, tablet, or phone. Sessions are scheduled at your convenience and accessed from the comfort and safety of your home or desired location.

Is Online ABA Therapy the Right Fit?

Online ABA therapy allows you and your child to receive support from a distance for services such as:

Things to consider when evaluating whether online ABA services are a good fit include:

  • You need a working electronic device (computer, tablet, etc.) with a camera, microphone, and sound output.

  • You need a stable, high-speed internet connection.

  • Sessions are hosted via HIPAA-compliant software to protect your confidentiality and privacy.

  • We identify your child’s online treatment goals and strategies based on an at-home or online evaluation.

  • Depending on your child’s needs, they may attend online ABA sessions alone or with a caretaker.

  • Online parent training requires the attendance of caregivers or active participants in your child’s life.

  • Most insurances cover online therapy—check your insurance plan to confirm your coverage.

If you struggle to attend home visits, online therapy can help. It may also be an excellent option if you are looking for online support in addition to other programs.

How Can Online ABA Therapy Help?

Online therapy removes challenges that may arise with in person treatment. For example, scheduling conflicts, mobility limitations, sickness, and more. It allows us to provide continued care, even when we can’t meet you in person.

Online ABA therapy supports you by:

  • Engaging in treatment as effective as in-person therapy
  • Providing flexible scheduling options for you, your child, and your child’s network

  • Allowing you and your family to access therapy from anywhere

  • Keeping your child in their natural environment (when attending from home)

  • Maintaining regular appointments for consistency and improvement

Online ABA Therapy at Alliance ABA Therapy

At Alliance ABA Therapy, we support children with autism and other disabilities so they can reach new heights.

We provide different online ABA services to families throughout Virginia, including:

1. Online Consultations

We start our journey with an online or phone consult to gather information about your child’s needs. We will walk you through our ABA offerings and identify the services that better suit you and your family.

When you enroll in any of our programs, you can also schedule consultations with our therapists for any questions you might have.

2. Online Assessments

One of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) will review your child’s records and conduct a virtual evaluation. We will observe and interact with your child via video chat. Our BCBA will also speak with you and your family to get a complete picture of your child’s behaviors and skills.

Once the online assessment is complete, we will determine if we are a good fit for your family. If so, we will prepare an in-person or virtual treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs and targets.

3. Online Therapy For Autism

We provide comprehensive and focused online ABA therapy for children with autism and other differences. Like our in-home services, online ABA centers on skills training and behavior modification.

Our therapists will use games, videos, and other digital aids to keep your child engaged. We will watch their progress and adjust treatment as necessary.

4. Online Parent Training

Parents, caregivers, and other family members can attend virtual parent training sessions.

The goal is to empower you with tools to provide ongoing support to your child—even if they are not in an ABA program.

5. Online Social Skills Groups

We lead remote groups to help children improve their communication, learning, and social skills. Kids can interact and grow along with their peers in a fun and creative online environment.

Groups are adapted to our learners’ ages and abilities.

6. Online BCBA Supervision

Besides our caretaker and child services, our staff of BCBAs offers online supervision. They oversee Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs), Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and other professionals who use ABA interventions. The purpose is to train them and improve their performance in the field so we can continue to help families thrive (Tricare participants are excluded).

We will schedule periodic online meetings to provide feedback and support. We can also attend sessions to observe their ABA skills with clients.
